Lectio Divina Meditations
Beginning October 12, we’re introducing a new Lectio Divina podcast to help us make space for God in our everyday lives. Lectio Divina, meaning “sacred reading,” is an ancient Christian practice of slowly and prayerfully engaging with Scripture through four movements: read, reflect, respond, and rest. Each Monday morning, a new episode will guide you through the practice. From Tuesday through Sunday, Citizens will provide a different Bible passage each day for you to practice Lectio Divina on your own. Whether this practice is familiar or entirely new, we invite you to join us as we slow down, listen to God through His Word, and allow Scripture to shape our daily lives.
Door of Hope Harvest Hunt - Wednesday, October 28th & Thursday, October 29th @ 5:30pm
Join us as we serve alongside our City Partners at Door of Hope in hosting their annual Harvest Hunt! This will be an opportunity for the children of Door of Hope to get dressed up in their costumes and enjoy a candy hunt, games, and crafts! We will be joining them at their Highland Park house on 10/28 and at their Pasadena house on 10/29. You are welcome to sign up for either or both days!

Fuente X Citizens Potluck & Prayer Night - Wednesday, October 28th @ 6pm
Join us on the evening of October 28th for a joint potluck and prayer night with our friends from Fuente Para Las Naciones Church. Pastors Chad & Fabiola and their congregation are opening up their church home to invite our Citizens community to gather around one table together. The folks at Fuente will be cooking dishes from their homelands, and we’ll be bringing foods from ours, like some of our Korean favorites. We’ll end the night with a time of praying for each other as we continue to work together to reach all corners of the city of Los Angeles. Scripture says we are many parts but one body, and this night is an opportunity for us to live that out at the same table. Hope to see you there!

Understanding Ourselves & Others Through the Enneagram - Saturday, October 31st @ 9am
The Enneagram is a tool that names nine ways of seeing and moving through the world - not to put us in a box, but to help us see ourselves and each other more clearly. In this introductory workshop, we’ll explore what the Enneagram is (and isn’t), why self-awareness and other-awareness matters for our discipleship, and take a tour through the nine types. Our hope is for you to walk away with a deeper gratitude for who you are, a deeper compassion for yourself and others, and a deeper curiosity to keep learning. No prior knowledge of the Enneagram required! Registration fee covers food for the event.

(Re)discovering Scripture - Sunday, November 1st, 8th, & 15th after First Service
Whether you've spent years reading the Bible or have never even opened one before - this course is an invitation to slow down, to learn, and to (re)discover the beauty and depth of God's Word! Each week will have a mix of teaching, discussion, and time reading and exploring Scripture together in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.

As we enter into a season of rootedness as a church, we wanted to offer a tangible way to step into this season with intention. Our vision for our Citizens Prayer Room is simple: to create space where anyone can come to seek God through prayer. Rather than a structured gathering, this is meant to be a space in the middle of the week to slow down, become present before God, and respond to His invitation.

Heart-to-Heart Convos for Parents of Preteens - Saturday, October 17th @ 10am
Let’s have a conversation around parenthood! Your child isn’t a little kid anymore — but not yet a teenager. The preteen years (ages 9–12) bring rapid changes in the body, brain, and social world. As identity exploration begins and peers and technology grow in influence, parenting at this stage can feel like entering unfamiliar territory. Here’s your chance to dust off those deep-breathing skills you mastered back in the toddler years—they’ll come in handy again as emotions, friendships, and independence start to shift. Join us as we chat about how to stay connected and confident through this season of change. Together, we’ll explore how connection, curiosity, and guidance can help your preteen—and you—thrive through the ups and downs of early adolescence. Grace Kim, LMFT, and Cat Yun, our Children and Families Director will help guide our time of learning, sharing stories, and reflecting on this extremely dynamic stage of parenting that involves big emotions. Also, join us for lunch afterwards. There’ll be a panel of parents from different backgrounds and various stages of the preteen/teen years ready to answer your questions—so bring whatever’s on your mind. We encourage both parents to attend. Please let us know if you can't find childcare on your own. We will do our best to provide.
