Responding to the LA Fires

Throughout the last couple days this city that we love and call home has experienced the most destructive wildfires in LA history.  The ongoing fires have resulted in fatalities, destroyed or damaged more than 9,300 structures, and forced nearly 180,000 people to evacuate.  Here are a few ways we can respond.

Citizens Disaster Relief Fund

Our church has set up a Disaster Relief Fund where you can financially donate to support the immediate and long-term needs of those in our congregation who have been affected by the fires. 100% of the collected funds will : 1.) go directly towards those in our church community who are in need of financial relief due to the fires and 2.) be evenly distributed to organizations that are providing immediate and long-term relief from the fires. The organizations we are contributing to are Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, World Central Kitchen, Salvation Army Southern California, and Convoy of Hope.
You can also give directly to these organizations using the links above.

Please be sure to select "Disaster Relief Fund" under Giving Type.

Open Your Home

Many in our congregation are among the 180,000 evacuees that had to evacuate their homes and flee for safety. If you are able to open up your home to those in our church community who are in need of temporary housing , please fill out the Shelter Availability Form linked below.  A member of our staff will reach out to you  as we receive requests for housing assistance.

If you or your loved ones are in need of housing assistance due to the fires, email admin@citizensla.org to be connected to available hosts.

Volunteer & Donate Supplies

Mutual Aid LA has compiled a comprehensive list of organizations that are accepting donated supplies, providing supplies/shelter/meals, and in need of volunteers. Citizens LA does not have any oversight nor direct affiliation with Mutual Aid LA and the organizations included on the list. However, it is a helpful resource for those who are looking for more ways to contribute to the relief efforts.

Pray for LA

1. Pray for all those affected in our church and community by the fires. Pray for their physical needs and emotional health. Pray that God will provide them with comfort, hope, and strength as they navigate through this difficult time.

2. Pray that God will protect the  firefighters , first-responders, and community leaders who are tirelessly working to respond to the ongoing fires .  Pray for their physical safety and emotional health  and pray for guidance and wisdom in their relief efforts.

3. Pray for favorable weather conditions to aid in quelling the fires from  spreading and to stop new fires from starting.

4. Pray for the Church to faithfully be agents of love, hospitality, and service during this time of grieving, loss, and devastation and pray for hope in the gospel as our city rebuilds together.
